José Antonio Elíaz

José Antonio is a lawyer who graduated from the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello (UCAB), with a specialization in Procedural Law at the same institution. He completed a Master's degree in Private and Comparative International Law at the Universidad Central de Venezuela (UCV).

Since 1997, he has practiced law with extensive experience in Civil, Commercial, Procedural Law, and Private International Law, especially in their applications within the civil, commercial, and procedural spheres. He has also distinguished himself in the use of alternative dispute resolution methods, such as negotiation, mediation, and arbitration.

In the academic field, he is a professor at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels at UCAB and Universidad Metropolitana.
He has held important positions in institutions linked to arbitration and regional integration, including:

  • Member of the Arbitration Committee of VENANCHAM since 2003
  • Founding Member and current Vice President of Academic Affairs of the Venezuelan Arbitration Association (AVA)
  • Board Member of the Venezuelan Chapter of the Spanish Arbitration Club
  • Arbitrator at the Arbitration Center of the Caracas Chamber of Commerce
  • Arbitrator at the Business Conciliation and Arbitration Center
  • Secretary General of FEDEUROPA
